Burning Mountain Park – Friday, Dec. 6th–   5:30-8:00pm   – New Castle Tree Lighting Celebration

Bring your own extension cords, food warming appliances (crockpots), serving ladles,12-inch sign with your number, chair or stool if needed

Chili  must be kept at 140-degrees at least.

We will provide tents, 3-ft. table space, table covering, electrical access

We also provide all tasting bowls, spoons and ballots

Voters/Tasters do not have to sample the chili  in numeric order

Winners will be determined by Anonymous Judges and Popular Votes

Separate prizes will be awarded for JUDGES’ CHAMPION (decided by 7 anonymous judges) and PEOPLE’s CHOICE (determined by the public tasters)

New Castle Chili Cook-off  Guidelines - Part 3

Please be prepared to bring a minimum of three (3) gallons of chili; which is about 3 or 4 "crockpots" full.

Each station must be attended and supervised at all times.

Only official tasting cups may be used for tasting chili. All "tasting cups" and spoons will be provided by New Castle Recreation.

The first 350 tasters to purchase their tasting cups will receive voting ballots.

Tasters will already have their reusable tasting bowl and spoon with them. Contestants do not supply cups/bowls/spoons

 Organized by the Town of New Castle Recreation Dept. 

 -We are collecting NEW and UNWRAPPED gifts for senior citizens (no candles please) beginning in December.

-Shop locally, make gifts by hand, or order an online delivery to:

This is a CO-ED League 

Competitive League: 4v4
Crafted for skilled players, our Competitive League embraces a 4v4 format with controlled passes, sets, & spikes. Teams, limited to six players, can only make substitutions from other league teams. No tipping is allowed as well as setting bumps. 

Recreational League: 6v6
Welcoming all skill levels, the Recreational League offers a laid-back atmosphere with occasional bump-set-spike plays. Rosters, accommodating up to eight players, allow substitutions from rostered players. One girl must play the ball at each play, if not side-out point to the other team.

Indoor Adult Fall Pickleball | Session 2 - Fall II 2024

NO INDOOR PICKLEBALL THANKSGIVING WEEK (NOVEMBER 26TH & 28TH)

Join us for an exciting adult indoor pickleball program at Elk Creek Elementary School this fall! The program begins on November 12th and runs through December 19th, with sessions held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the school gym.

The drop-in fee is $10 per session, and we are offering a punch pass for 10 sessions, which can be used anytime within this session and future sessions at New Castle Recreation. The punch pass must be purchased before the program starts and will be ready for you before the first session on November 12th.

This program is designed for adults of all skill levels, whether you’re an experienced player or new to the game. Come enjoy a great workout, meet new people, and improve your pickleball skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Adult Basketball League - Winter 2025

This is 5v5 full court recreational league. There are 2 divisions: Recreation and Competitive Divisions to level the playing field and increase the enjoyment for all players and teams.

Recreational League: These teams have average skills. These teams play the game for enjoyment and fun.

Competitive League: These teams have above average skills and play at a high level and have experience in the league. 

**if there is not enough interest in the two divisions, the league will be combined into 1 division**

Cost: $400 per team (Deposit of $200 due to reserve team spot and $200 will be due before first game) This breaks down to roughly $40-$50 a player for a team of 8-10.

Every player will have to sign a code of conduct before they can play. Our code of conduct will be enforced.

Dates: January 5 - Feb. 23, 2025 (No League play on 2/9/2025, Super Bowl Sunday)

Days/Times: Sundays 6:00-9:00pm or 6:30-9:30pm

Games: Season will consist of 6 games including tournament

ArtillumA Dance Co - New Castle classes for ages 5-8 - Fall 2024

Join us TUESDAYS  - two options:

EARLY CLASS 4:15PM to 5:15PM

or LATE CLASS  5:15pm-6:15pm

at the New Castle Community Center for 5-to-8-year-olds Combo Dance Class with Miss Julia Speedy.

In this class your dancer will learn Ballet, Tap & Jazz styles of dance.  

This 30-week session begins September 10th and runs through May 6th. Your dancer will be in our Spring Showcase in May where they will perform a choreographed dance piece in a beautiful costume. 

Register your child at newcastlerec.com and pay your first month's tuition ($55) - then on October 15th your amount due will be paid directly to ArtillumA Dance Co. This amount due in October will be $107.50 which includes the October tuition, the registration fee and the costume fee. Your child will keep the costume. Thereafter, the remaining tuition is charged out monthly, at $55 per month, for the next 6 months (November thru April) for a total of 30 weeks. Cost is $55 a month.  There will be other costs such as registration fee, costume fee, recital fee.  We will loan out shoes if possible, but you will need to own a pair of shoes by recital time.  Register your first month fee at newcastlerec.com
