Adult Basketball League - Winter 2026

NCR 5v5 Adult Full-Court Basketball League

The league is open to players 18+. The Recreation division is designed for enjoyable, casual play. The Competitive division is intended for advanced, high-level teams. Divisions may combine if needed.

The season runs Jan. 4 – Feb. 22, 2026 (no games Feb. 8) with games on Sundays at 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 PM; each team plays 6 games including a tournament at Coal Ridge HS; cost is $400 per team. max 12 teams; registration deadline is Dec. 26, 2025

Jerseys: Reversible jerseys required. NCR can provide 12 for an additional $300 ($25 for each player) purchased by Dec. 9, 2025.

Roster: Max 12 players per team. Once on the roster, players cannot be removed. You may add player up to 12, but no changes after Feb. 1, 2026. A 13th player will not be allowed. Choose carefully.

Technical Fouls: Each tech = $50 fine, paid before re-entry. Two techs = removal from league. Only IAABO refs can give techs. If no IAABO ref is present, NCR staff may issue a 2-min cooldown instead.

NEW Competitive Rules: If no certified ref is available, teams must ref the game before or after theirs. Captains will receive the full game & ref schedule Dec. 29. By Thursday each week, captains must submit their volunteer ref’s name; if not, the team captain must ref. NCR provides a ref shirt & whistle. Missed ref duty = opponent starts with 25 points. If reffing is deemed unfair, NCR may end the program and give partial refunds.

Two winners:

“Judges’ Champion” will be determined by seven anonymous judges.

“People’s Choice” will be determined by popular vote.

Judges’ Champion - $200 prize  

People's Choice - $150 prize

Winners also receive a medal and bragging rights.

Lego League - Competition Series - Fall II 2025

Calling all builders!  Three dates through November!

Builders must register beforehand!

Our Lego League Competition Series is your chance to show off your building skills, Lego knowledge and creativity!

We supply all building materials to be used in the competition.

Individual builders will be judged in two categories based on age, 5-8 years and 9-12 years.

Individual contestants will have one hour to build a masterpiece to present to the judges.

The judges will award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in each age group. Register your Lego Lover today!

2025 Adult Indoor Pickleball - Fall 2025

Pickleball Open Play - Adults

From September 16th to November 18th, we invite you to join our Pickleball Open Play sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at Elk Creek Elementary School. The drop-in fee is just $10 per session, and we offer a 10-session punch pass for $80. Punch passes do not have an expiration and roll forward as needed to all future Indoor Pickleball Sessions.

Pottery Paint Night - Adults and Kids - Summer 2025

Pottery Paint Nights

Local pottery artist, Kat Nichols, will guide us through painting her bisque-ware (already fired) pottery pieces. She will then take them back to her studio to be glaze fired. They will be returned to the New Castle Community Center and ready for pick-up the following week. These could make great gifts. All ages will enjoy this activity and the end results.

Each registered participant will choose one piece to paint, including bowls, mugs, cups, etc.

2025 Pumpkin Carving Party - Fall 2025

Come carve some pumpkins with New Castle Recreation! This pumpkin carving party will include snacks, carving tools and plenty of space to create your masterpiece! Need a pumpkin? Register to have a pumpkin provided for your Halloween artist. Already have a pumpkin? Register under BYOP (bring your own pumpkin) to join in the fun with your own pumpkin. This program is open to ages 5 and older and will take place from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the New Castle Community Center.

WELCOME BACK or hello if you're new. We are going to be playing on Thursdays! 

You can either pay the full amount or $50 dollars to secure your team's spot! (Puedes pagar el total o $50 para asegurar el lugar se tu equipo y pagar el primer dia 10/30/2025)

Competitive League: 4v4 (must have one female) 
Crafted for skilled players, our Competitive League embraces a 4v4 format with controlled passes, sets, & spikes. Teams, limited to six players, can only make substitutions from other league teams. No tipping is allowed as well as setting bumps. 

Recreational League: 6v6  (must have two female) 
Welcoming all skill levels, the Recreational League offers a laid-back atmosphere with occasional bump-set-spike plays. Rosters, accommodating up to eight players, allow substitutions from rostered players. One girl must play the ball at each play, if not side-out point to the other team. 

Age Requirement:
For participants under 18, a minimum age of 16 is required, with eligibility contingent on a parent-signed permission slip. Only up to 1 underage players on each team max.

ArtillumA Dance Co - New Castle classes for ages 4-9 - Fall 2025

Join us WEDNESDAYS  - two options:

EARLY CLASS 4:15PM to 5:15PM  4-6 year-olds

or LATE CLASS  5:15pm-6:15pm  7-9 year-olds

at the New Castle Community Center with Miss Julia Speedy.

In this class your dancer will learn Ballet, Tap & Jazz styles of dance.  Our 30 week session begins on September 10th and goes thru May 6th.  Your dancer will be in our Spring Showcase in May where they will perform a choreographed dance in a beautiful costume.  If you would like to participate in the dance program, register at  newcastlerec.com   and pay your first month’s tuition ($55) to New Castle Rec, then on October 8th your amount due to ArtillumA will be $107.50 which includes 2 weeks of tuition, the registration fee and the costume fee (yes, they get to keep it!).  Thereafter remaining tuition is invoiced/charged out monthly by ArtillumA directly, $55 a month, for the next 6 months (November thru April - you will be invoiced & we encourage you to pay via ACH to avoid credit card fees) for a total of 30 weeks.    Call Lynn @ 970-618-0663    THANK YOU!  See you in class!

Community Trash Pick up Day - Fall 2025

Community Trash Pick-Up Day - hosted by New Castle's CEC
Join us on Friday, October 10 from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. for a community trash pick-up sponsored by the Town of New Castle’s Climate and Environment Commission. Volunteers will help keep New Castle beautiful while enjoying time outdoors with neighbors. Lunch will be provided. Meet at Ritter Plaza (between 3rd & 4th St. on Main) at 9 a.m. for assignments and to receive trash bags, gloves, and safety vests.

If you would like to participate, registration is required before Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 3pm. Registration is free and allows us time to provide enough lunches.

CR Youth Cheer Camp (Homecoming) - Fall 2025

Coal Ridge High School Coaches and Cheerleaders will be hosting a youth cheer camp as a fundraiser! Please have your girls or boys join in the fun!

The first two days of Thanksgiving Break, we will offer fun activities and crafts to keep kids busy.
