Little Roots Adventure Program with Caroline Long - Summer 2026

Little Roots Adventures:  One week - Monday through Friday 9am-1pm

August 3rd-7th    Ages:  7-12  $50 per day (4-hour days)  Register for one or more days

New Castle drop-off locations are designated each day and listed below. Each adventure will end up at the same drop-off location and the kids will be ready for pick-up at 1pm.  Bring a lunch, two snacks, and a water bottle. Wear proper outdoor shoes and attire.

Little Roots Adventures is a week-long, nature-based program designed to help children slow down, explore, and connect with the natural world. Through hands-on experiences, such as learning about local plants, nature crafts, and group activities, children are encouraged to build confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging outdoors. All activities are led by a certified guide with training in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, with a strong focus on safety and emotional well-being.  Parents will be required to sign a liability waiver online and each day at drop-off.

Summer Dance with Miss Julia - Summer 2026

Dance with Miss Julia! We'll be learning introductory Ballet and Tap Technique in this fun-filled Combo Class. We'll learn to work together and practice choreography, all while enjoying our time with Fun Songs, Dance, and Friends!

July 8th:  Plant-based Greek Cooking - Enjoy Mediterranean dishes as you never have in the delicious and informative class. Old-World cuisine is naturally packed with wonderful and simple plant-based dishes that are sure to delight your taste buds. Tantalize your palate with baked broad beans, garlic mashed potatoes, and a terrific spinach-race dish . . all in the authentic Greek style.

July 15th:  Plant-based Cookout Sides - Up your barbecue nutritional game with whole food, plant-baed versions of popular cookout side dishes. Learn to make tasty baked beans, scrumption corn muffins, and delectable deviled potatoes without the need for dairy, eggs, or sugar. This class will level up the healthfulness of your next picnic or potluck without sacrificing flavor.

July 22nd - Plant Based Spanish Cooking - the Iberian Peninsula is a melting pot of great diversity of people and regions. Its customs and cuisine have been influenced by Celtic, Greek, Roman, Germanic, and Arabic cultures through the centuries. We will explore savory paella from Valencia, a mouthwatering Catalan medley of sauteed vegetables, and spice chickpeas and spinach from Seville. These delicious treats don't need to be complicated or use exotic ingredients; you'll see just how simple, accessible, and enjoyable Spanish dishes can be.

Kitchen Knife Skills - Adults - Summer 2026

Knife Skills for the Home Cook - Wednesday, July 29th  6pm-8pm

Here you will learn suitable grip and handling and common cuts like mincing, dicing, and julienning that you will need for nearly any recipe you find online or in your favorite cookbook. We will also discuss selecting the right knife for the right task and safety, care, and maintenance. You will practice your sharp new skill to prepare a delicious, healthy snack in class using various cutting techniques. Bring at least four to-go containers to take home cut ingredients and leftover.

DIRTY HOG DASH - Obstacle Course & Mud Run for Kids - Summer 2026

The 9th Annual Dirty Hog Dash is open to kids, ages 4-14 years who are ready to conquer obstacles, get dirty, and have fun on a challenging 1-mile course.

Charcuterie Class - Make & Take - Summer 2026

Learn the art of beautiful grazing boards with Stephanie, owner of the Chic Charcuterie Co.

Join us as we each create our own 15x8 charcuterie board including meats, cheeses, fruit, crackers, nuts, and accoutrements.

Youth Vendor - at our New Castle Community Market - Summer 2026

Attention young entrepreneurs!  (New Castle residents) 

The New Castle Community Market is offering a few vendor spaces each Thursday (July 9th - August 27th)  to anyone age 6 to 17. The vendor fee is $10 for a single market. Each youth vendor must provide their own table/chair. Pop-up tent is optional - shade is not guaranteed. One market registration per child. 

Items for sale must be handmade by the child with their siblings or friends.

No Food or Beverage sales allowed with this offering - NO DOG TREATS 

Each child will be responsible for their own cash and transactions with the help of parents if needed.

Youth vendors must register online at newcastlerec.com to reserve their specific market date.

Each child vendor must provide a product description to Kelley at the New Castle Rec. Dept. - kcox@newcastlecolorado.org - shortly after registration for approval. If you do not send a product description to Kelley a space will not be reserved for you.

Teams will work together to complete a beautiful custom-designed puzzle featuring Downtown New Castle, Colorado. After the event, you will be able to glue your finished puzzle and take it home. You may even choose to frame it.

Lunch Bunch - Kids' Kitchen on Wednesdays - Summer 2026

LUNCH BUNCH -  Each Wednesday we will gather in the New Castle Community Center Kitchen to make lunch for ourselves. We will talk about nutrition and balanced meals. We will practice setting the table and proper table etiquette. We will clean up our mess in the kitchen and do the dishes.  If we have time, we will plan the menu and shopping list for the next Wednesday meal. Our menus focus on "homemade" using kid-friendly recipes with ingredients they can typically find at home.

Our 3rd and 4th grade Coed soccer program is ready to launch its fall season! Gear up for a season full of skill-building, teamwork, and exciting game play. The fall season will kick off the week of August 17th and end on October 2nd. Practices will be held twice a week depending on coach availability at VIX Park. Games will be played against Rifle and Grand Valley Recreation!

Your player will need shin guards, rubber molded soccer cleats and plenty of water.

Please register your child as the grade they will be entering for the 2026/2027 School year!

Fall Micro Soccer - Fall 2026

There will be no waiting list this season, we are only accepting 80 kids! 

Pre-K & Kinder is FULL!

Micro Soccer is a recreational program designed for children in Pre-K through 2nd grade. This program emphasizes having fun while teaching essential soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and scoring.

The program runs from August 19th to October 2nd, 2026 at  Alder Park,  (Pre-K & Kindergarten) - and (1st & 2nd) is a VIX PARK

Cost
Registration is $60 per child.

 Schedule: For Pre-K and Kindergarten participants, sessions are held twice a week with one practice and a scrimmage game each week. For 1st and 2nd graders, the program meets three times a week with two practices and a game on Friday evenings

Girls Youth Volleyball (3rd-6th Grade) - Fall 2026

Introduction to Volleyball program is perfect for girls wanting to try this exciting sport. The program will focus on teaching the basic skills of the sport; passing, serving, setting and hitting. There will only be practices as we are trying to build fundaments for the next level to play games.

$5 Vendor fee for a 5-6 ft. table (We provide the tables)  

Toys must be clearly marked with a price, or labeled FREE.

Come sell, trade, or giveaway your unwanted, gently used toys. Items can be free or reasonably priced. 

Collector cards are okay too. No clothes or furniture. You must register and participate in the swap/sale to bring toys. No drop-offs.

Each vendor must handle their own cashbox if needed.

Set up the day before, Friday 5pm-7pm  or  Set up the morning of the event 9am-9:45am  You must be totally set up before 10am Saturday.

Community shoppers are encouraged to come and buy or get toys for free!
