2025 Boys Youth Basketball (3rd-6th) - Winter 2025

3rd & 4th: This program includes practices twice a week with league games against other area teams on Saturdays. Continued emphasis on developing basketball skills. 

5th & 6th: This program includes practices twice a week with league games on Saturdays. The emphasis will be to continue developing all skill levels.

Cost: $80.00/$90.00 after 1/3/2025 for both leagues.

Dates: January 6, 2025- March 1, 2025

Kids' Night Pizza Party - Valentines Day - Winter 2025

Kids’ Night – Fun times at New Castle Community Center

Valentines Day, Friday, February 14th  6pm-9pm

$30 per child  Ages 5-12

We’ll keep the kids busy while the parents go out.

Crafts – Games - and we will make our own Pizza!

Parents will get a Hogback Pizza coupon at the door, valid on Valentines Day only - non-transferable

Indoor Adult Winter Pickleball | Session 1 - Winter 2025

Join us for an exciting adult indoor pickleball program at Elk Creek Elementary School this winter! The program begins on January 7th and runs through February 27th, with sessions held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the school gym.

No pickleball Thursday, January 30th.

The drop-in fee is $10 per session, and we are offering a punch pass for 10 sessions, which can be used anytime within this session and future sessions at New Castle Recreation. The punch pass must be purchased before the program starts and will be ready for you before the first session on January 7th.

This program is designed for adults of all skill levels, whether you’re an experienced player or new to the game. Come enjoy a great workout, meet new people, and improve your pickleball skills in a fun and supportive environment. 

Youth Basketball Open Gym - Winter 2025

Keep your kiddos moving this winter and join us for our new Youth Open Gym in January and February! Open gym will take place Sundays at the Coal Ridge High School Main Gym from 1pm to 4pm for players from 7 years old to 14 years old. The gym will be split with 7 - 10 year olds playing on one side and 11 - 14 year olds on the other. Drop in for just $5 per session, no need to register ahead of time.

We ask that parents come inside at drop off and pick up to sign their children in and out.

There will be no open gym Sunday, February 9.

African Drumming - with Jessie Lehmann - Annual 2025

Learn traditional West African rhythms in a fun and supportive setting. Have fun and connect through drumming with Jessie Lehmann.

New Castle Community Center - 6pm - one hour

Bring a drum or two, or more, if you have them. Jessie will also have drums for us to use.

The second and third Monday of each month.

BAD ART Night - for Adults - Winter 2025

7th Annual Bad ART Night - A freestyle crafting event for ADULTS

Everyone will have access to a ridiculous pile of craft and art materials. Prizes will be awarded for "The Best of the Worst" and "Too Good To Be Bad"...This event can make for a great "date night" or just something different to do on a Saturday evening. Must be at least 21 years old to attend.

Saturday, January 11th 6pm-8pm at the New Castle Community Center

 This is not a class, but more of a get-together with neighbors to make these natural home remedies.

All ingredients and supplies will be provided and we will have enough for 8 of us to each take home a quart of Fire Cider and a pint of Elderberry Syrup.

If you are not familiar with Fire Cider or Elderberry Syrup, please do your own research before registering for this activity.  Do Your Own Research Before Using Any Fruits, Vegetables, or Herbs Medicinally. We are not certified or licensed herbalists.  We are simply following recipes and sharing our personal experiences.

Adult Indoor Soccer - Winter 2024

Starting Friday December 13th, we will now offer adult indoor soccer 

Age 18+ (16-17 must have parent sign permission slip) Enrollments are limited

Dates: December 13, 20 | January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7th

Time: 7pm- 9pm at Elk Creek Elementary School

This comes as a membership of $40 for the 7 weeks. You must pay the full fee before 12/13 in order to participate.  No drop-ins.

Junior Titans Basketball Camp - Winter 2025

Junior Titans Basketball Camp (Grades 3rd-8th)
Learn the basic fundamentals of basketball from shooting, dribbling, to passing from our Coal Ridge HS coaches and players. Open to both boys and girls. All campers will receive a camp gift and prizes for contests.

Little Hoopers Basketball (K-3rd) - Winter 2025

A co-ed Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade basketball program emphasizing ball handling, following directions, and skill instruction including dribbling, passing, and shooting. Practices will be held at Elk Creek Elementary on Saturday mornings.

Roller Skate basics / intro to Roller Derby - Adults or Juniors - Winter 2025

Come learn ROLLER-SKATING basics and the fundamentals of ROLLER-DERBY with some of our local roller derby players!

These separate classes are for JUNIORS ages 8 to 17 . . . and for ADULTS ages 18 and older  -(Boys, Girls, Men, Women)

All participants must have their own quad skates (classes are designed for roller skates with four wheels, 2 in front, 2 in back, side by side . . . NOT roller blades with in-line wheels) 

Also required:  helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and wrist guards. These safety items can be purchased at local sporting goods stores, big box stores or on Amazon. Participants can skate only if they have all the required equipment. (bike helmets, skateboard pads etc. are allowed).
